Hi, I'm Emily - or Emmy to my friends.

I'm a journalist and director with a focus in video. What does that mean, exactly? I work primarily as a non-fiction filmmaker. Sometimes I work as a photographer and a writer. I love telling stories about real people for digital media brands.

Before diving into freelance life, I was a Senior Producer at Conde Nast. I made videos for Glamour, Teen Vogue, THEM, Iris, Brides, and Allure. While at Conde, I created Glamour's series "Body Talk," which averages 1 million YouTube views per episode. I directed and edited the short documentary Pretty Big Movement Destroys Dancer Stereotypes for Iris, which won a 2018 Webby Award.

In 2019, I was selected by my alma mater Missouri State University to receive a Public Affairs honor. The governor of Missouri said Maya Angelou and I "use their creative abilities to bring about change" in the same sentence which was pretty cool.

Fun fact...I'm mental health first-aid certified by the state of New York.

I am a Sony Fs5 and A7sii owner/operator and have all the bells and whistles for beautiful video and photo projects.
